Slovenian Competence Centers Strenghtened Their Role as Innovation Mechanism with Presentations to Foreign Diplomats, Sp.Idrija, 24.05.2013

Click for larger picture (39,0 KB) The event, Competence Centers The engine for powering the globally perspective industries, Spodnja Idrija strengthened the understanding about significance of Competence Centers as the mechanism of innovation and integration of the Slovenian companies and academia.

The mechanism is already producing new high-tech products, services and processes with high added value, which has and will continue to have a significant impact on improving the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy.

The event was jointly organized by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Competence Centers connected to the initiative CoCosi (Competence Centres of Slovenia), which brings together more than 50 Slovenian export-oriented technological companies and more than 30 research groups and institutes in the world's most promising areas such as energy efficiency, information and communication technologies, sustainable building technology, advanced automation and production processes, biotechnology.

TECES as holder of the Competence Center SURE participated at the event, to which the partner organizations of TECES were also invited, with intent to worn the presentation of the activities to ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, diplomats and representatives of economic issues, accredited to the Republic of Slovenia. We presented Competence Center SURE competences, fields and areas of activity of the center and started networking for contacts with the desire to acquire the complementary foreign companies, as well as related successful innovation mechanisms.

Highlights from welcoming speeches:

The Minister, Mr. Pikalo, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport emphasized: "... that in the case of Competence centers they are an innovation instrument, which is intended to promote the concentration of knowledge in key technology areas as well as a horizontal agreements, based on the strategic partnership between the companies and academia... The results of such integrations between business and academia are already visible in as new tech products, services and processes with high added value, which has and will continue to have a significant impact on improving the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy. "

The State Secretary, Mr. Rožič, The Ministry of Economic Development and Technology in pointed out: « I am convinced that also the decision of the government to support the Centres of Excellence, Centres of Competence and Regional development centres was the right one. All three mechanisms bring together the best teams from science, the most entrepreneurial companies and the most innovative researchers from Slovenian industries.”
