TECES as a holder of CC SURE became the co-founder and member of the Slovenian Indian Business Council

In Ljubljana, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and the involvement of the new Ambassador of India to Slovenia Mr. Sarvajit Chakravarti the Slovenian-Indian Business Council was established.

Inaugural session was attended by over 30 participants, mostly directors of Slovenian companies already operating in India or with future plans to start business in this market. Among the founders were the TECES as the holder of the competence center SURE and TM ICT as the holder of the OPCOMM, represented by directors Matej Gajzer and Tomaž Vidonja. Both centers work closely together since 2012 when they signed a cooperation agreement to further strengthen the cooperation on smart ambiences field.

Among the participants a former Slovenian Ambassador to India, Mr. Janez Premože was present, which in addition to the traditional business cooperation between companies of both countries emphasized the importance of scientific and technological cooperation, between our countries.

The active role of Slovenian Competence Centers (CoCoSi) was especially highlighted; the July working visit to India this year attracted a lot of attention and some concrete steps towards greater cooperation have already started to be implemented.

Slovenian-Indian Business Council has set itself the following objectives:

  • exchange of information between members of the Association about the experiences and opportunities for cooperation with India and its economic, cultural and scientific entities,
  • raise awareness about the possibilities to find complex and joint ventures in the Indian market and as well the collaboration with Indian businesses working on the Slovenian market and other overseas markets.

Members of Slovenian Indian Business Council are generally business entities from Slovenia dealing with the economy, culture and science and research, especially in relation to the Indian market, and collaboration with entities from India.

Business opportunities in India are mainly in following sectors:

  • knowledge-intensive sectors (such as software, ICT, pharmaceuticals)
  • sectors with favorable labor (textile, leather, electrical engineering)
  • the emerging sectors of the future (media, film industry, multimedia), infrastructure, food industry and in the service sector. 

India represent a significant market for Slovenia, it is among the six international export markets outside of Europe or the European Union, set as the primary strategic export markets in the next period, which Slovenia is focusing on. These other markets are Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China and Turkey.
