3. maj 2007, Maribor
Following a recent internal workshop conducted by the company Microchip Technology Austria GmbH and establishment of potential for collaboration, on
26 April 2007, representatives of
Microchip Technology Inc. (
http://www.microchip.com), one of the world’s major manufacturers of micro controllers and analogue semiconductor integrated circuits, paid a visit to TECES.
Senior officials of the company, including
Mr. Sumit Mitra, Vice-President of Microchip’s US-based Digital Signal Controller Division, familiarised themselves with TECES’ development plans and activities so far.The topic of discussions were primarily possibilities for collaboration in development of electronics and algorithms for controlling electric motors that would be based on the Microchip platform, as an alternative to TECES’ development solutions based on the Texas Instruments platform.
As regards possibilities for expansion and training new staff as part of training and study courses for students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science in Maribor – both of which are TECES members – emphasis was also placed on incorporating Microchip into research and pedagogic activities of the two faculties through TECES.
The agreements between Microchip and TECES represent a good basis for more specific familiarisation with Microchip products and solutions - knowledge gained in this way will allow for selection of the economically most favourable and optimal solutions in the development of dedicated applications for the end-client.
