In this regard it is interesting, that Slovenia after the last measurement of levels of innovation (GII 2013 - Global Innovation Index) remains among the group of first followers. Between years 2008 and 2009, when the recession occurred, Slovenia climbed to the second place by the amount of total private investment in research and development and fourth place by the amount of total national GDP investment in R&D.
